The Freedom Number

1. The Survival Math

- Rent: Look for shared rooms in safer, secular areas (e.g., South Jakarta or suburban KL).
- Food: Base it on a simple local diet.
- Transport: Commuter lines or affordable transit.
The Formula: (Monthly Costs x 3) + Emergency Deposit = Freedom Number
2. Secret Banking
Section titled “2. Secret Banking”In the Nusantara, financial privacy is your first line of defense.
- Malaysia: Most banks allow online opening. Focus on digital-only options if possible.
- Indonesia: Use digital banks like Jago, Blu, or SeaBank. They are easier to hide on your phone and don’t send physical statements to your home address.
- Singapore: Use DBS/POSB or digital alternatives.
3. The Exit Strategy
Section titled “3. The Exit Strategy”- Start Small: Save 10% of every paycheck into your secret account.
- Digital Assets: Consider keeping a portion of your savings in assets that the “Middle Management” cannot easily seize.
- Documentation: Keep digital scans of your KTP/MyKad on a secure cloud storage (ProtonDrive).
